Bellaire Houston
Over
the past five years, Bellaire has grown very quickly. It is
an older neighborhood on the edge of Houston. It is one of
the more affluent neighborhoods in the area with many old
original ranch style homes that are being replaced with new
construction. Bellaire spans the west side of the 610 Loop
(one half is located inside the loop and the other half is
outside the loop) and adjoins the Meyerland and West
University areas. Prices range generally from $325,000's to
$2 million and up. There are new 4000+ square feet mansions
mixed in with older ranch style 1950's homes with the lot
sizes ranging from 6500 square feet to one half acre. There
are also many resale homes on the market that are less than
5 years old. Many of the newer homes are Mediterranean
stucco, red brick traditional or neo-classic style.
Interiors are generous and often include a third story
(there are no basements here). Schools and parks are very
important in this neighborhood. Bellaire is another city
within the City of Houston with its own police, water
department, etc. It is family-oriented neighborhood and
close to the Galleria, Downtown and the Medical Center. It
is a 15 minute drive to Downtown in light traffic.
Therefore, different kinds of buyers are attracted to these
homes because the prices may seem like bargains when
compared to nearby neighborhoods. Restaurants and shopping
are conveniently located close by in Meyerland. West
University is south of Bellaire and offers abundant shopping
and restaurants.
