Montrose Houston
There
are very few neighborhoods inside the loop area that are
more conveniently located in the city or have more to offer
than Montrose. Montrose was developed early in the 20th
century and is a mix of attractive vintage homes, townhouses
and condominiums. There hare some of Houston's most unique
shops, restaurants and clubs in this area. Branching out in
all directions from the intersection of Montrose Blvd. and
Westheimer Road, Montrose has several different
neighborhoods. Some neighborhoods have deed restrictions and
some are sprinkled with businesses. It's also a short
commute to the Greenway Plaza area, Downtown, the Medical
Center and the Galleria.
If you are looking to spend under $250,000, your choices may
be limited to condos or perhaps small “fixer upper” homes.
The housing price increases significantly outside of these
options. Montrose is located within the Museum District and
on the opposite side is the River Oaks area. Montrose home
prices are generally about $150-$250 per square foot. Brick
cottages are popular in Montrose as are duplexes and quads;
either to convert to larger single units or to renovate as
luxury priced rental properties. The new construction in the
area is mostly 2 or 3 story town homes due to the high value
of lots. Prices start at around the mid $300,000 for new
construction. Whether you want historic charm or urban
sophistication, Montrose is a great Houston neighborhood
with many choices to suit your lifestyle and recreation
choices.
